The café for the living, is not out of business yet
The news is playing in the corner but the no sound emits from the TV set
A man is standing by the doorway ready to take your coat
But if you don’t leave it with him then he may just show you his throat.
The florescent lights are flickering, but the power will never go out
Natural sunlight makes me shiver, but your eyes do make me pout
A waitress calls me honey, because I’ve never told her may name
Linoleum floors which I adore, give me nothing to blame.
And I can’t say that I love you, with that look in your eyes,
But I can’t think of no one else
And another tab at the café for the living
Will just, make me melt.
Silver trim across the walls, and red paint, chipping fast,
The restaurant is sloppily furnished, but the waitress still makes me laugh.
Across the room, in another booth lies a mustached man, large and trim
She also treats him with respect, her job is trust him, on a whim.

The menu is expansive, but I don’t wanna eat a thing.
I order nothing after nothing, of what am I a king?
If cancer had another name, I’m sure I would’ve heard it yet.
And one day we’ll all grow ashamed, but until then, one more omelet.
And I can’t say that I love you, with that look in your eyes,
But I can’t think of no one else
And another tab at the café for the living
Will just, make me melt.
Nick is a sweetheart and fellow Pokémon master. I'm consistently impressed by his ability to combine passionate performances with contemplative lyrics. It's like The Mountain Goats but better Jacob Norman Chainsaw-Arm
